Hyundai Motor Group, Boston Dynamics partner on new research initiative

Hyundai Motor Group and Boston Dynamics have announced the launch of an AI research facility with the goal of making fundamental advances in artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and intelligent machines.

Plans call for the two organizations to make an initial investment of more than US$400 million in the initiative, which will be led by Marc Raibert, founder of Boston Dynamics.

To be known as the Boston Dynamics AI Institute, Raibert said its mission is to “create future generations of advanced robots and intelligent machines that are smarter, more agile, perceptive and safer than anything that exists today.”

According to a release, the facility “will work on solving the most important and difficult challenges facing the creation of advanced robots.”
