Apple to shrink MacBook Air

Tony Smith writes that according to the DigiTimes , Apple may soon release a smaller version of its MacBook Air notebook.
“According to a market watcher with Taiwanese newssite DigiTimes, Apple will re-launch the Air at some point in the coming months with an 11.6in screen and a thinner, lighter casing. The site says the sources for this information are component makers, who indicate the Air will be produced by Taiwanese contract manufacturer Quanta. The Air current sports a 13.3in display, big enough to give the chassis space to hold a full size keyboard.”
IDC: Second quarter PC sales hit the bull’s eye

Timothy Prickett Morgan shares Jay Chou, research analyst for IDC’s worldwide quarterly PC tracker service’s PC market outlook moving forward.
“’The PC market remains robust, and in a recovery phase, despite challenges to a broader economic recovery, such as slow job growth and a more conservative outlook in Europe and Asia/Pacific,’ explained Chou. ‘The factors which led to the recent PC rebound – an aging commercial installed base, a proliferation of low-cost media-centric PCs, and low PC penetration through much of the world – remain key drivers going forward.’”

Ted Schadler expresses his desire for a certain enhancement to the Apple iPad.
“Mouse support. For pete’s sake, I can use a bluetooth keyboard, why can’t I use a bluetooth mouse? That would make it a full authoring tool. Until we get that, people will suffer finger contortions and stiff necks reaching over their keyboard to touch the screen.”
