Tony Smith writes about a new product from Acer, which will be an Android-based Apple iPad device alternative.

“(Acer) CEO Gianfranco Lanci whipped out the seven-inch colour-screen gadget at a press event in Beijing yesterday and promised to bring the unnamed product to market in Q4. Lanci apparently said that Acer may seek to offer the device through mobile phone networks, implying a model with integrated 3G connectivity. It also sports a Kindle-style Qwerty keypad.”

Apple Passes Microsoft as World’s Largest Tech Company

“Apple’s market capitalization officially passed Microsoft’s Wednesday afternoon, making the Cupertino, California, company – for the first time – the largest technology company in the world. With a market cap of $241.5 billion versus Microsoft’s $239.5 billion, Apple also became the second-largest company on the S&P 500, according to Standard & Poor’s analyst Howard Silverblatt. At the moment, only Exxon Mobil is bigger.”

3D PCs coming soon then a boom, says report

“First, there were 3DTVs. Next up: 3D PCs trickle out in 2010 and then ramp in 2011 and 2012, according to Jon Peddie Research. In a report on the Stereo 3D PC market, Jon Peddie research argues that 1 million 3D PCs will ship in 2010 and surge to 75 million units by 2014. Simply put, 3D will become a standard feature in your PC in four years.”
