Asus ships new zero client monitors

Computer hardware vendor Asus rolled out two new zero client monitors and a zero client box that are designed to help enterprise organizations make the most out of their VMware-based virtual desktop infrastructures (VDI).

The CP220 and CP240 zero client monitors and CPX20 zero client box are equipped with Asus’ Teradici PCoIP (PC-over IP) technology that compresses, encrypts and encodes computing data at the data centre and transmits it as “pixels only” to the zero client monitors or zero client box.

The system minimizes an organizations exposure to security risks because all software and data are stored in a centralized platform.

The monitors are also VMware-ready and seamlessly integrate with VMware-based environments. The PCoIP remote display protocol also allows users to access data and applications directly from a centralized server, reducing the need for desktops, tablets and notebooks.

The new monitors also makes typical PC maintenance tasks such as downloading patches or updates simpler and faster.

The monitors have Full HD 1080p (1920×1080) screens. The top-of-the-line CP 240 utilizes an AH-IPS panel with a 178 degree wide-view angle for clear, vivid visuals with minimal color distortion that allows extended viewing of applications. Both monitors are ergonomically designed with a full range of tilt, pivot, and swivel and height adjustment plus are compatible with standard VESA mounts. Each CP monitor features a 3-year ARR (Advance Rapid Replacement) warranty in North America.

The CP240 had a 23.8-inch display with 16:9 aspect ratio, 512M DDR3 memory and 1-Watt stereo speakers. The CP220 has a 21.5-inch display with 16:9 aspect ratio, 512M DDR3 memory and 1-Watt stereo.
The CPX20 zero client box features is a sleek, compact and lightweight design that can be easily mounted on the back of any VESA-compatible display. Once connected, the CPX20 turns any display into a VDI Zero Client monitor, freeing up desktop space for a clutter-free workstation.

The products are available through leading Asus value added resellers and distributors. Manufacture suggested retail price for the CP240 is $529, the CP220 is $499 and the CPX20 is $329
