Availability Suite update Veeam’s biggest release ever

Data management and recovery of physical, virtual and cloud files, especially in a timely manner, are a growing importance for businesses big and small, and Veeam Software’s latest update for its flagship product Availability Suite is looking to make that work easier.

Announced today, Veeam’s Availability Suite (VAS) 9.5 Update 3 (U3) is now available and contains built-in management for Veeam Agent on Microsoft Windows 2.1 and Veeam Agent for Linux v2. Known for its agentless VM backup software for VMware and Hyper-V, Veeam’s Availability Suite update is adding support for VMWare Cloud on Amazon Web Services (AWS), in addition to IBM Spectrum Virtualize integration.

New analytics and monitoring capabilities have been added to VAS 9.5 Update 3’s management component, Veeam ONE. Veeam ONE provides 24/7 real-time monitoring, alerting and managing for virtual and physical systems.

Today’s update launch follows November’s announcement about Veeam’s Availability solutions supporting IBM AIX and Oracle Solaris. The expansion of Availability across multiple programs was the number one request from customers, said Peter McKay, co-CEO and president at Veeam.

“In one, unified Veeam solution, customers can manage their entire environment – virtual, physical, or cloud – and ensure No. 1 Availability for any app, any data, any cloud,” said McKay in a statement.

According to a July report from Gartner, Veeam has been, and continues to be, one of the fastest-growing companies in the backup industry.

“Veeam has become the fourth-largest backup vendor (based on 2016 revenue), and is frequently showing up on vendor shortlists for backup software,” says the report.

Headquartered in Baar, Switzerland, Veeam has offices in more than 30 countries including Canada. In August, Veeam hired Damian Serjeant as its director of partner sales in Canada.
