Avnet boosts HP service opportunities for the channel

Avnet Technology Solutions (NYSE: AVT) has been selected as the first HP ServiceOne distributor, making the distributor’s professional services and technical resources part of the Hewlett-Packard Co. (NYSE: HPQ) program.

According to Avnet, this development enables HP enterprise partners to enhance services offerings by leveraging Avnet’s Data Center Lifecycle Services, while capitalizing on HP incentive programs.

Tony Vottima, senior vice president and general manager, Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas, said channel partners can significantly increase the profitability of their hardware and software sales by incorporating services into deals for HP ProLiant servers and 3Par storage technology.

The goal of this partnership from an Avnet standpoint is to provide solution providers with another way to increase services revenues, without hiring additional staff until they have developed services practices in place.

Avnet has made investments in its professional services offerings. It currently has more than 20 resources to deliver services as an HP ServiceONE partner, and more than 80 services offerings, which are specifically designed to be sold through partners in Canada and the U.S.

These services are targeted for data center solutions for the most part and focus on consultation, planning, assessments, deployment, installation and start up, break/fix, and staff augmentation. Partners can also access Avnet’s dedicated team of regionally-based services development managers.

Tracy Galloway, vice president, channel and attach sales Americas, Technology Services for HP, said channel partners need expert resources to help them drive growth and increase profitability. Partners can leverage Avnet’s professional services along with their HP ServiceONE knowledge to accelerate the sales process and win more business delivering data center solutions that align with customer strategies.
