Avnet launches mobile data centre solution with EMC

Value-added distributor Avnet Technology Solutions used this week’s EMC World conference in Las Vegas to launch the Avnet Mobile Data Center Solution for EMC VSPEX.

Now available to and through Avnet’s channel partners in the U.S. and Canada, the mobile data centre solution leverages EMC VSPEX infrastructure create private clouds, allowing partners to rapidly deploy data centres for their enterprise customers that have been optimized for harsh environments. It’s designed as a solution to support business continuity, data centre moves, disaster recovery, large-scale special events and remote field locations.

“Avnet is streamlining the development and delivery of mobile data centre solutions,” said Greg Peterson, vice -resident and general manager for the EMC solutions group within Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas, in a statement. “Avnet’s investment in developing this unique solution makes it easier for our partners to sell fully-tested, fully-validated solutions based on EMC VSPEX reference architecture. Our partners will be able to quickly meet specialized market requirements with the Avnet Mobile Data Center Solution for EMC VSPEX, whether their customer needs to set up a private cloud in a disaster zone after a hurricane strikes, on the frontline of a conflict, or in the back of a semi-truck.”

To create the solution, Avnet is drawing on its relationship with all EMC VSPEX Technology Alliance partners, and its own more than 75 EMC sales and technical certifications. Technology from EMC, including VSPEX, VNX, Avamar, Data Domain and NetWorker is all integrated into the solution by Avnet, as well as technology from Brocade, Cisco, Elliptical Mobile Solutions, Metalogix, Microsoft and VMware.
