IT distributor Avnet has announced it is offering VMware on IBM Cloud through the Avnet Cloud Marketplace as well as IBM Connections Cloud.
This announcement follows a new strategic partnership that the VMware announced with Big Blue back in February, one that would allow users of the former’s software-defined data centre stack to put workloads off-premises and onto IBM’s cloud network, comprised of 45 different data centres worldwide.
IBM Connections Cloud includes IBM Verse, an integrated email, social collaboration software and third-party applications delivered on IBM Cloud. According to Avnet, it’s the first IBM Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) product offered through the Avnet Cloud Marketplace.
All offerings are sold on a consumption model. Current Avnet/SoftLayer partners can access VMware technologies through existing Avnet/SoftLayer agreements.
