Backup and DR vendor skips distribution to go direct to channel

Datto Inc., a hardware based on-site and off-site backup and disaster recovery vendor, announced they will be selling Datto solutions directly to Managed Service Providers (MSPs), value added resellers and IT Service Providers in Canada.

Najaf Raza, Datto’s director of international operations, said previously the Norfolk, Conn.-based company was selling to Canadian customers through a distributor. But now believe that Datto would be able to provide better support and services if it sold directly to Canadian MSPs and VARs. “We have been actively working to develop and implement a new Canadian program, so I’m excited to finally get the word out.”

Canadian-based channel partners will still utilize Datto’s U.S. based technical support centre, and support hours will match those of U.S. channel partners.

Datto will provide Canadian-based channel partners with the same services as U.S.- based solution providers, but is introducing access to Peer 1, a data centre in Toronto. Peer 1 is SSAE 16 Type II certified, CSAE 3416 compliant and meets all the standard security requirements of Datto’s U.S. based data centres.“By forging a relationship with Peer 1, we are giving Canadian Partners direct access to a secure, first-class data centre that’s located in Canada,” said Raza.

Datto has over 4,000 resale partners across North America and Europe.
