Big American company acquires Top 100 solution provider

More acquisition news in the Canadian channel. PC Mall Inc. better known as PCM who has a Canadian presence in Montreal has acquired Edmonton-based Acrodex Inc. who last year was No. 9 on the CDN Top 100 list reporting revenues between $225 million ty $250 million.

PCM Canada is a direct market reseller but despite having an office in Montreal it only services U.S. customers. That is about to change as Acrodex now becomes PCM’s Canadian operation.

Acrodex said joining PCM, a $1.4 billion channel partner headquartered in El Segundo, Calif., enables the company to better position themselves to scale and grow strategically across North America.

Karim Amarshi, Acrodex’s CEO, said PCM’s extensive capabilities, vast customer and vendor relationships, sales organization size and strength, and brand equity will bring the resources to propel Acrodex to the next level.

Jay Miley, PCM’s President, said Acrodex’s strong business fundamentals, experienced management and high concentration of services revenue is an attractive opportunity for PCM. “We believe the operational efficiencies gained by combining Acrodex’s footprint in Canada and PCM’s extensive organization will drive deeper presence and scale in North America,” he said.

While the PCM purchase of Acrodex ranks as one of the biggest deals in the channel in 2015, its not by far the only one that has taken place this year. 2015 has shaped up to be the biggest so far for mergers and acquisitions for the channel community highlighted by the massive Compugen/Metafore deal.

Below is a recap of most of the deals.

As spring turned into summer Scalar Decisions Inc. and Calgary’s Mainland Information Systems Ltd., confirmed a merger agreement. This deal could possibly place the new company near the Top 5 of the CDN solution provider rankings.

Currently Scalar is No. 11 on the CDN Top 100 list up from 15 last year with revenues between $150 million to $175 million. Mainland has been growing rapidly in the last five years and has risen to No. 16 on the list with revenues between $100 million to $125 million.

Earlier this year Winnipeg-based solution provider Powerland took a major step to achieving its goal of expanding its service coverage across the Prairie Provinces with the acquisition of FACT Computers in Saskatchewan.
