Cisco/EMC take three paths to the cloud

Cisco Systems and EMC Corp. have collaborated on a new initiative, where the two vendors will bring custom-designed infrastructure and validated reference architectures to the marketplace through channel partners.

The initiative is called Three Paths to the Cloud and consists of pre-integrated converged infrastructure from V-Block and EMC’s VSPEX.

These new joint reference architectures will be aligned with channel partner incentives, both vendors said.

The two Cisco validated designs for EMC VSPEX (Microsoft Hyper-V and vSphere 5.0 architectures) are unified computing reference architectures tailored to SMB and mid-market customers.

More than 200 Cisco and EMC Velocity channel partners within the global VSPEX community have been trained to resell and deploy EMC VSPEX with Cisco Unified Data Center.

Cisco and EMC have also aligned their channel incentive structures for accruing incentives.

Cisco and EMC have implemented a customer support framework for VSPEX for collaborative case management.
