Commvault powers new HPE enterprise data protection solution

HPE is relying on Commvault to power its latest product.

The company has unveiled its new HPE GreenLake Backup solution, an end-to-end enterprise-class data protection and reliability product that covers the entire lifecycle of a backup environment. HPE chose Commvault’s Data Platform software, which comes already pre-integrated on HPE servers, storage, and networking technology, to simplify the experience for customers.

“Today’s announcement brings together two industry leaders in Commvault and HPE for the benefit of our mutual customers with an end-to-end back up service, deployed and delivered in the privacy of their own data centre,” N. Robert Hammer, chairman, president, and CEO of Commvault, says in a Jan. 22 press release. “Through this strategic technology partnership, we are delighted to extend our presence in the vital enterprise market with HPE with a new service offering that enables IT staff to focus on more strategic initiatives, while lowering operational expenses and reducing risks related to security, business continuity and regulatory compliance.”

GreenLake BackUp is available now worldwide as a pay-as-you-go service that’s meant to remove the complexity in capacity planning and the burden of provisioning backups and managing data growth, HPE explains. The solution delivers instant backup capacity on demand for entire data infrastructures to emphasize how important agility is to public cloud, while still maintaining the security and performance of an on-premise environment.

Ana Pinczuk, senior vice president and general manager of HPE Pointnext, adds that the company is “excited” to partner with Commvault for GreenLake.

“[We are delivering] a successfully-executed backup, the outcome that our customers care about. With HPE’s metering technology and management services to run our customers storage needs on either HPE StoreOnce or HPE 3PAR Storage, organizations are able to gain instant backup capacity, within the control and security of their own data centre, deployed ahead of time and ready to be activated when needed,” Pinczuk says.
