Compugen senior executive was well-respected in industry

gilbert-boucherHarry Zarek, President and CEO of Compugen Inc., announced the death on 6 February 2013 of Gilbert Boucher, Compugen’s VP, Eastern Region.

“Gilbert’s achievements at Compugen were profound and this is most apparent from the strength of our business in Quebec. Yet his contribution to our business was much broader and truly stretched from coast to coast. His greatest legacy is the wonderful team of people he built and spoke often of with great pride. He was particularly proud that they managed to continue their work with excellence throughout the period of his hospitalization when he could not be with them,” Zarek said of his former co-worker.

“Gilbert’s passing will not only be felt at Compugen. He was a respected leader in our industry whose counsel and wisdom were valued by many. He was also very much involved as a contributor to the community, including the work he was involved in most recently with Frontier College and its national literacy initiatives,” Zarek added.

Boucher joined Compugen in 2005. He had previously held executive positions with NexInnovations and its various predecessor companies for many years. His technology career began at Xerox Canada where he held a number of sales and sales management positions.

He gained a bachelor of arts degree at Université Laval and a bachelor of pedagogy at Université du Québec during the 1960s and 70s. His training, coupled with a flair for mentoring, an economy of speech and a generous spirit, helped him to select and build a cohesive regional team with national impact at Compugen.
