Dell adds services certification for cloud partners

Dell Inc. (NASDAQ: DELL) has added to its partner program for cloud computing with a new services-based certification dubbed Cloud Services Enabler, reports Jack McCarthy of CRN:

”The new certification compliments the company’s Cloud Builder program, which was launched in March and offers services to design and develop a cloud infrastructure for customers, and its Cloud Provider partner, which was launched in June and operates a cloud networking operating center (NOC) enabled with Dell technology to provide cloud services, including infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), platform-as-a-service (PaaS) or software-as-a-service (SaaS).”

When Dell announced its first cloud specializaiton in March, Gilles Philippe, Canadian marketing manager for global commercial channels with Dell, told CDN that moving into the cloud was a natural progression for Dell.

“The cloud is the next logical extension,” said Philippe, particularly with the acquisition last year of Boomi, which specializes in application integration on the cloud, as well as virtual network infrastructure vendor Force 10. “It’s a continuation of our focus on the data centre. I think our portfolio has never been so strong.”
