MSPs Introduce Service Level Refunds

Joe Panettieri writes that due to a down economy, many managed service providers and software-as-a-service (SaaS) organizations are now offering either a discount or refund to customers if their service level agreements (SLAs) aren’t met.
“RightNow: The $140.4 million SaaS company focuses on CRM (customer relationship management). And going forward, RightNow will give customers cash back if their SaaS service levels drop below a 99.9 per cent up-time commitment – which is roughly nine hours of downtime per year.”
AOL snags Google exec for top spot

Google Subnet writes that Tim Armstrong, senior vice-president of Google, will be replacing Randy Falco, the current chairman and chief executive at AOL.
“Others think AOL tapped Armstrong specifically for his unique advertising/technology background in an effort to help AOL regain its former glory and become a stronger contributor to Time Warner’s bottom line. Former chief Falco just announced plans for layoffs in January that will strip AOL down by 10 per cent, or 700 workers, and its annual revenue fell 20 per cent in 2008, to just $4.2 billion. Armstrong will have his hands full.”
Dell’s Studio One 19 multi-touch family PC comes to Canada this spring

“The all-in-one unit features a 19-inch display with an optional touch screen and multi-touch capabilities. Targeted to families, the multi-touch software allows users to edit photos, create slideshows and playlists, record and upload videos to YouTube, upload photos to Flickr and browse the Web. Two creative multi-touch applications for children include finger painting software and a percussion centre. The unit starts at US$699.”
