Gigabit Ethernet switches designed for SMB market

Networking vendor TP-Link has released a series of gigabit Ethernet switches designed to meet the needs of small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) looking to upgrade their LAN.

The Jetstream 24-Port ($349.99) and Jetstream 24-Port PoE ($499.99) L2 managed switches are designed to be cost-effective SMB solutions, offering businesses a gigabit access layer switches with rich management capabilities, strict security policies and reliable performance.  Both also feature 4 Gigabit SFP slots to give users greater network flexibility.

These L2 Managed Switches allow an office infrastructure to provide an Ethernet connection to computers. And the model with PoE functionality allows small business networks to work with wireless access points, surveillance cameras, VoIP phones and other PoE supported devices, while eliminating cable clutter by using the existing power lines to transfer both power and data.

And TP-Link’s green offering is its unmanaged switch, which will launch soon, with 8-ports and PoE technology. It allows the expansion of a wired network by transferring power and data over a single Ethernet cable while consuming just 124W, making it up to 75% more energy efficient than like switches.

TP-Links’ distributors include Ingram Micro, ASI and Synnex, and its resellers include U Computers of Scarborough, ON., Corey’s Computing of Winnipeg and A-power Computer of Richmond, BC.
