Goodbye brochures; hello GreenRack

Toronto-based CDN Top 100 Solution Provider Tenet Computer Group Inc. wants to do away with brochures.

Tenet has created a hosted service using the Microsoft Azure cloud called GreenRack that enables people to distribute information anywhere from anyplace. GreenRack works this way: use your smartphone to tap a GreenRack station that is presenting information you are looking for. The GreenRack’s Information e-Concierge technology is then launched and it automatically scans associated QR codes or Near Field Communications (NFC) tags attached to the poster on the station or a physical rack.

The documents or brochures are then transferred to your smartphone and can be shared via email or social media. Documents and brochures can also be presented using virtual racks displayed on digital signage screens, or interactively on touch screens or Web sites. These documents or brochures can also be geo-tagged and viewed by augmented reality browsers and mapping services.

GreenRack combines location-based content marketing/information with on-demand publishing for roaming mobile audiences.

Rick Jordan, director of sales and strategic alliances for Tenet, told CDN that GreenRack will improve audience engagement, reduce costs associated with resource consumption and content distribution, and bring about sustainability.

“GreenRack is an app that will take marketing to a new level with NFC and bar codes. It’s also going to save people from carrying 40 pounds of paper from brochures at trade shows,” Jordan said.

On the back end, GreenRack works as an analytics tool. User can see who tapped on the GreenRack station and on what devices. “This can be measured and it leads to a powerful ROI tool,” Jordan added.

Tenet has tested GreenRack three times:

  • HP Digital Rack for Centre of Excellence – this is being displayed at their Canadian HQ’s on a large interactive display;
  • Ontario Centres of Excellence – Discovery Conference with Colleges – this was an event we did for the OCE; and
  • CTIA – Las Vegas Nevada – Meet the Delegation (24 companies with the Ontario Government that are benefited from GreenRack).

Tenet has signed a partnership agreement with Microsoft and has officially become a Windows Azure Partner.
Tenet has also made a YouTube video about GreenRack.
