Government launches new Language Portal for Canadians

Today the Government of Canada announced a new Language Portal for Canadians.

The Language Portal of Canada is designed to provide users with access to various language tools and other online resources. Tbese include writing tools, articles and access to Termium Plus, the Government of Canada’s terminology and linguistic data bank.

This $1.1 billion initiative is part of the government’s Roadmap for Canada’s Linguistic Duality project which began last year and is slated to end in 2013.

The portal is available for anyone to use.

Any and all Canadian organizations are encouraged to contribute to the Portal’s content if they wish to.

The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Foreign Affairs, said the Language Portal of Canada is a “valuable” tool for Canadians to use.

“It brings a wide variety of tools together on one Web site to help them study, work and communicate in both official languages,” Cannon said.
