Here is what millennials actually want for work perks based on a global survey

Think you know millennials?

One way to put it to the test is by considering what they want in the workplace. Besides an engaging and rewarding job in their field of choice, what perks do they consider the most valuable?

A recent survey conducted by professional services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) indicates that millennials rank training and development, flexible working hours, and cash bonuses as their top three benefits of choice at a given profession.

While professional development and flexibility in the workforce are not shockers (we’ve documented studies showing that the vast majority of employees, not just millennials, are willing to quit for greater workplace flexibility) it’s interesting to see that, sometimes, all young people want is cold hard cash.

Perhaps millennials aren’t as altruistic as previously thought.

The report, published by venture capital firm KPCB, holds another surprise, which is that healthcare benefits comes in at a distant fourth place at 8 per cent.

Here, methodology is likely key. The report says that some 4,364 graduates across 75 countries, aged 31 or under were surveyed, all of whom had graduated between 2008 and 2011. We would expect certain benefits, which tie into national social welfare policies, to differ among jurisdictions.

How do these rankings differ from your expectations of what millennials want? How do they differ from what you want for yourself? Let us know in the comments below.
