HP buying ArcSight for US$1.5 billion

Hewlett-Packard announced Monday that it has agreed to purchase security vendor ArcSight for US$1.5 billion. The deal is expected to close by the end of the year

Executives are planning to discuss the purchase further during a conference call Monday morning.

It’s only the latest major acquisition for HP. In early September, HP won a bidding war with rival dell for storage vendor 3Par by agreeing to pay US$2.35 billion for the vendor.
