HP Inc. is calling its latest line of LaserJet Enterprise printers the “world’s most secure printers” with upgraded security, performance, and energy efficiency.
The Palo Alto-based company announced today the availability of the HP LaserJet Enterprise 600 Series devices through channel partners or directly through HP. This includes 17 skus with 26 bundles ranging from 50 ppm to 75 ppm.
The 600 Series multi-function printers (MFPs) use the same security systems that HP has been using in its notebooks released this year. This includes HP Sure Start, the company’s BIOS self healing security technology that validates the integrity of the BIOS code – meaning if it gets compromised it defaults to a safe copy of the BIOS. It also has continuous run-time intrusion detection that shuts down the device and reboots if an attack occurs, and uses whitelisting techniques.
The security additions are complimented by the addition of HP JetIntelligence capabilities. According to HP, this automated technology will help reduce costs by predicting toner levels with “high-yield options and page maximizer technology”. It can also supports anti-fraud tech for potential counterfeit cartridges.
Additionally, the user interface of the new 600 Series LaserJet printers has been remade to match the tablet-like UI that was launched with the HP A3 LaserJets. It features a message centre, improved preview, additional customization, centralized contacts, and new apps. It can also detect potential errors or missed pages for scan jobs. And this firmware won’t be going out of date anytime soon – HP plans to continue to upgrade it for “investment protection and powerful productivity”.
