HPE’s latest acquisition to boost hybrid IT offerings

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is at it again. Today it announced that it will be acquiring born-in-the-cloud services company Cloud Technology Partners (CTP) to strengthen its hybrid IT services.

CTP is a cloud agnostic managed service provider (MSP) that offers consulting, design, and operational advisory services for cloud environments such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and OpenStack. Its capabilities will be folded into HPE Pointnext, the company’s hybrid IT services.

“CTP’s consulting, design, and operational advisory services for cloud environments will strengthen our hybrid IT consulting expertise in a fast growing market,” wrote Ana Pinczuk, senior vice president and general manager of HPE Pointnext, in a blog post. “Together with CTP, we will provide customers with the ability to more quickly build new innovative digital experiences, simply manage, and forecast IT costs and ensure the applications running their business stay secure.”

HPE highlights three areas where CTP is able to help enterprise clients: moving to the cloud, innovating on the cloud, and operating that cloud.

For move to the cloud, CTP helps IT organizations determine what apps are optimal for either public or private clouds before helping with the actual migration. It can also help with the actual process of building solutions using technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), big data, and machine learning. CTP also offers a Managed Cloud Controls service in order to help with achieving governance, risk, and regulatory compliance.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

HPE has been busy in 2017. CTP becomes just the latest acquisition this year, which numbered at four in April.
