Ingram Micro to bring the SARA security solution to Canada

Status Solutions, a Charlottesville, Va.-based life safety and security technologies developer, has partnered with Ingram Micro Inc. to bring its automated alerting engine to Canada.

Status Solutions entered the Canadian market in 2009 with a focus on life safety, security, environmental monitoring and mass notification and the company believes that this new partnership with Ingram Micro’s newly formed Physical Security Division in Canada will broaden the company’s reach of situational awareness technology across numerous verticals including senior living, health care, education, government, hospitality and manufacturing.

Status Solutions’ Situational Awareness and Response Assistant (SARA) for example, integrates life safety, security and environmental controls, turning alarms from these stand-alone systems into detailed voice and text alerts for delivery to designated communication devices, including smartphones, landlines, pagers, computer screens, emails, and public address systems.

SARA includes a wireless sensor network, integration tools for existing alarm and communication systems, and mass notification capabilities on one powerful platform.

Amy Jeffs, COO of Status Solutions, said we’ve gained significant traction in Canada during the last three years and see great opportunity for continued growth within the region. The channel remains key to building the situational awareness market, so we’re delighted to team with Ingram Micro in supplying our current resellers, as well as those who already work with Ingram Micro and those we’ll recruit jointly. The goal is to make sure that any business concerned with life safety, physical security and environmental monitoring can drive situational awareness to as many screens as possible to protect life, property, business and convenience.

Jennifer Harmon, senior manager of Physical Security at Ingram Micro Canada, said SARA allows clients to send managed alerts to the varied message mediums that our society uses today. This ensures that critical information flows in a timely manner to those who need to know about an unfolding situation so they can take appropriate action. Ingram Micro’s new relationship with Status Solutions helps round out our extensive IP-based security offerings and further enables our resellers and system integrators to address the physical security needs of the Canadian marketplace.

SARA has also been used for alerting for nurse call, patient monitoring, mobile and fixed duress, access control, lockdowns, inclement weather, fire panels, asset tracking, temperature monitoring, and humidity/water detection – virtually any threat in any environment. Support equipment for SARA includes the software server as well as pull cords, pendants, universal transmitters, and various sensors that Ingram Micro will stock for distribution to resellers and/or end users.
