Hold your breath it is coming next year.

”Intel (INTC) CEO Paul Otellini said this week that the chip giant is working on a project due next year, called IA System on a Chip, that should bring more PC-like power to advanced set top boxes and high-definition TVs.”

The first headline topped the tech news: Nicholas Negraponte’s One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) initiative will start selling their laptops to buyers in rich countries. But there’s a wrinkle: Rich-country buyers must buy their machines in lots of two, one they get to keep, while the other goes to a needy child overseas. Why the 2-for-1 charity promo?.”

” But the tide is certainly turning against Apple’s music and video store, which has held a near-monopoly on digital media distribution. Vivendi says the contract between its Universal Music Group and Apple is “indecent.” We like the sound of that, but somehow it doesn’t sound like Vivendi meant it as a compliment. Like NBC Universal, in which it holds a minority stake, Vivendi wants more control over pricing — the option to charge more for new, in-demand content than old library tracks.“
