Are we headed into an era of “dumb tech?”

“Apparently, (LG) has now confirmed the laptop will be shipping to Japanese users by the end of this very month, and to Europe and 20 other nations within the next one … since LG has just over a week left before March becomes April, it had better get shipping already.”

Is Palm doomed if the Palm Pre bombs?
Nicholas Deleon writes why Palm really needs its Palm Pre smartphone device to be a hit.

“Palm really needs the Pre to be a hit, with a Gartner analyst calling it a ‘bet-the-company product.’ If it tanks-again, there’s no reason to assume it will tank-then Palm is in a bad way. The company just posted its seventh consecutive quarterly loss (to the tune of $94.7 million); revenue is down nearly $100 million from the previous quarter ($77.5 million vs. $171 million last quarter). Palm could use a hit right about now.”

“SIP stands for Session Initiation Protocol, which is a standard for voice over Internet protocol used it corporate networks. Simply put, Skype will now connect to corporate phone systems so you can Skype fixed line phones and mobiles from a traditional PBX system – your standard phone set-up.”
