Jordan Crook takes a look at Lenovo’s newest (and most rugged) laptop.

“The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 can basically stand up to anything you put it through, within reason of course. Built from magnesium alloy with an interior roll cage, the ThinkPad X1 employs Corning Gorilla Glass, which was tested at the product launch event thrown by Lenovo. Think Product Group VP Dilip Bhatia whipped out his key chain and dragged a key across the laptop’s display, with no harm caused.”

VMware gets Go-ing with Shavlik buy

Timothy Prickett Morgan looks at what VMware’s recent acquisition means for the virtualization world.

“Shavlik is privately held and doesn’t talk much about its business or customer base, but in January it said that its revenues had increased by 70 per cent in 2010 compared to 2005. The company said then that it had added more than 500 customers in 2010, and this morning it said it had over 3,500 customers worldwide.”

“Last month, Motorola’s CEO Sanjay Jha cited a different reason for the Xoom’s relatively poor sales: Android’s app ecosystem. “Consumers want more apps for Android tablets,” Jha said during the company’s quarterly earnings call in April.”
