Jim Hamilton writes about the state of managed service providers in today’s economy.

“Given all the bad economic news, you would think that managed service providers are cowering in a corner these days. (But) Since Managed Services are sold over as a multi-year contract, MSPs do not need to worry how short term market conditions will affect their monthly revenue. Existing customers who are being managed well are unlikely to cancel a long term contract as a knee jerk response to the current economic climate.”

Jason Hiner weighs in on the target audience of Rim’s BlackBerry Storm.

“The Storm is aimed at corporate users who are tempted by the iPhone’s flashy touch screen and multimedia features, but can still benefit from the BlackBerry platform for enterprise messaging, security, and manageability. This device is aimed at keeping them in the BlackBerry fold. The other target audience is prosumers who are either focused on a rich multimedia experience in their smartphone or are buying their own smartphone to use for both work and personal use.”

Dell zeroes in on US customers with zero per cent financing

“Dell is offering its US corporate customers zero per cent financing to encourage them to buy more products in what has been a tumultuous year for the computer giant. The company is blaming the recessive economy for the decision. Dell said yesterday that most large businesses and institutional customers in the US would be eligible for zero per cent financing. It’s also cherry-picked some small biz firms too.”
