Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT) may be preparing to dump Metro, its tile-based user interface that was first introduced in Windows Mobile 7 and is set to be a key component of the touch-first Windows 8 OS.

As reported by Daniel Ionescu of PC World, a leaked Microsoft internal memo indicates there may be trademark issues around the Metro name, which is why Microsoft has now told employees to refer to the interface as “Windows 8 style UI” instead of Metro.
But don’t worry, just the name Metro is at risk; an OS by any other name would respond to your touch as sweetly.
