Millennials in the Channel: A wrap up

If there’s any doubt remaining about the change taking place in the IT workforce, consider this: Millennials have, for the first time, surpassed both Boomers and Gen Xers in the US workforce.  If it was not before, Gen Y is now a force to be reckoned with.

In case you missed it, over the last week, CDN has explored some of the biggest trends that will shift the the future of IT companies. As some of our experts said, continued success of businesses will depend on their adaptability and willingness to embrace these changes as much as shifts in technology or business practices.

Here are, once again, the major themes.

1. The most highly-sought roles in IT and the growing skills crisis

We’ve all heard the anecdotes.  Big data is coming. Security is a growing concern.  Mobile and cloud are pervasive. But just which jobs top the list in demand and by how much?

2. Understanding generational differences and the new work psychology

If you’re a Boomer or Gen Xer scratching your head at the peculiarity of Millennials then read on.  It has everything to do with you.

3. Planning succession in an aging channel

Thinking of selling or passing on your SMB upon retirement?  You are not alone.  Here are some of the do’s and don’ts.

4. The missing link between IT grads and the companies that need them

Companies are saying “There are no qualified people” and job seekers are saying “There’s no work.”  What gives?

5. Why bringing more women into IT won’t solve the gender gap

More and more companies are making an effort to improve diversity in their workforce, some by appealing to young women and girls.  So why is it not working?
