Motorola’s First Android Phone Takes Aim at Social Networks

Priya Ganapati writes about Motorola’s new Android based smartphone, better known as Cliq.

“The device will have a custom interface called Moto Blur that will bring together e-mail messages, text messages, Facebook and Twitter feeds, and photos into a single interface. The phone has a touch screen and a physical slide-out keyboard, a five-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, 3G connectivity, the ability to shoot video at 24 frames per second, a standard headphone jack and GPS capability.”

“A new feature in Google Voice allows you to forward SMS messages to your Gmail account, and, even better, you can reply to them directly from Gmail. The feature essentially turns your text messages into e-mail. It can also save you a bit of money if you turn off SMS notifications and just reply to messages through Gmail. The other new feature is an option in Gmail Labs that allows you to listen to your voicemail messages within the Gmail interface.”
