Intel to double SSD capacity

Chris Mellor writes that as early as next month, Intel will double the size of its SSD capacities.
“Reports say that, as indicated in January, Intel will move to a smaller 34nm process and double the capacities with the 1.8-inch form factor X18-M and 2.5-inch form factor X25-M (M meaning Mainstream) moving to 160GB and 320GB capacities. The X25-E (E meaning Extreme) will grow to 64GB and 128GB capacities. The upgrades, if they happen, should be reflected by Intel’s SSD OEMs, and resellers in their products, meaning Dell/EqualLogic, Hitachi GST, Infortrend, Pillar Data, Panasas and reseller Kingston Technology.”
Firefox 3.5 Will Arrive June 30

Michael Calore writes that Mozilla will release its next version of Firefox tomorrow.
“Firefox 3.5 is the first major revision of the popular open-source browser since version 3 landed a little over a year ago, in June of 2008. It features a faster rendering engine, stability enhancements and a new JavaScript engine that boosts the performance of most web-based applications. Firefox 3.5 will also include support for the most widely-used elements of HTML 5, the set of next-generation web standards that allows for offline data access, enhanced web graphics and multimedia playback without plug-ins.”
UC security concerns: VPN is key

Johna Till Johnson writes that while the adoption of unified communications (UC) is increasing, so are security concerns.
“Unified communications (UC) adoption is increasing and correspondingly, so too are concerns over security. Sixty percent (60%) of organizations are implementing a UC architecture in 2009, up from 47% in 2008, according to participants in Nemertes UC research. The bottom-line is UC security also must expand in scope and scale.”
