Nearly half of large mid-market and enterprise organizations will increase networking spending in 2011

Jon Oltsik writes about anticipated networking spend this year according to ESG Research.
“According to the 2011 IT Spending Survey from ESG Research, 47 per cent of large mid-market (i.e. 500-1000 employees) and enterprise (i.e. 1000 employees or more) organizations will increase spending on networking products and services in 2011. This is about the same percentage as 2010 and up from the recession doldrums of 2009 when 37 per cent of companies planned on increasing networking spending. Analyzed a bit further, 50 per cent of enterprise organizations plan on increasing networking spending as do 43 per cent of large mid-market organizations.”
CES: MSI debuts new Android and Windows-based tablets

Rachel King writes about a new Android-based tablet from MSI called the WindPad 100A.
“The Android-based MSI WindPad 100A tablet is powered by an ARM processor and can last up to approximately 10 hours on a single battery charge. Weighing in at 1.6 pounds and measuring half an inch thick, the WindPad 100A also includes a digital compass, GPS, I/O ports, USB, HDMI and a 3G option.”
CES 2011: Samsung takes on MacBook Air with super-sleek 9 Series ultra-portable laptop

Sean Portnoy shares details about Samsung’s soon-to-be-released Series 9 notebook, which will compete against Apple’s MacBook Air.
“Under three pounds and just 0.64 inches thick, the 9 Series laptop has the requisite svelte specs, but it adds some sexiness with the curved lines and brushed-metal case design. Samsung fashioned the notebook from duralumin, which it claims is twice as strong as aluminum. It’s also given the system a 13.3-inch LED-backlit display with a high 400-nit brightness and ambient light sensors that automatically adjust lighting levels to suit the environment in which you’re viewing the screen.”
