Now Samsung is suing Apple over the iPhone 5

The shoe is now on the other foot. Samsung Electronics has filed a motion in U.S. federal court to add Apple‘s new iPhone 5 to its patent lawsuit against the company, reports Jeremy Kirk of ComputerWorld:

“We have always preferred to compete in the marketplace with our innovative products, rather than in courtrooms,” Samsung said. “However, Apple continues to take aggressive legal measures that will limit market competition. Under these circumstances, we have little choice but to take the steps necessary to protect our innovations and intellectual property rights.”

In another patent case, a jury ruled that Samsung must pay Apple US$1.05 billion for violating several smartphone and tablet-related patents. The two mobile giants have long been locked in a multi-front legal battle that appears far from over.
