Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada announces funding support for renewed privacy research initiatives

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC,) announced four priority areas for funding support last week, as part of a renewed privacy research and public awareness contributions program.

The program is now in its seventh year and the OPC has announced up to $500,000 in funding will be made available to those initiatives related to trends and influences affecting the privacy of Canadians.

Individual research proposals may be eligible for funding of up to $50,000, whereas an individual organization may receive up to $100,000 in funding.

The OPC is also open to receiving grant applications from individuals which involve the impact of information technologies (IT) and privacy.

The deadline for submitting applications is Feb. 26, 2010.
