Play it again SAM.suite

U.K.-based Centennial Software, an IT asset discovery and endpoint security software developer, today announced the immediate availability of its SAM.Suite solution.

SAM.Suite is intended to help minimize organizational costs and risks when it comes to managing a company’s software estate. Centennial SAM.Suite is a combination of both Centennial Discovery as well as Centennial License Manager solutions. Together, this helps businesses get a better handle on all of its software assets. Bill Piwonka, vice-president of product management at Centennial, says this solution is the long-awaited answer that many businesses have often been looking for when it comes to licensing and compliance.

“From a customer side, companies are looking to manage their software estate more effectively,” Piwonka said. “On the vendor side, there are often cases where businesses have installations of software that aren’t licensed properly. There are many compliance issues and risks so companies need a way to be able to manage their assets more effectively.”

To help address these needs, Centennial Software has created Centennial License Manager, a Web-based software solution that focuses on licensing and compliance that also easily integrates with the Centennial Discovery solution. With License Manager, managers are able to monitor the software that’s both being used as well as the software that’s not within their company; therefore eliminating future unnecessary software purchases.

According to Piwonka, this solution not only helps to significantly drive down IT spending, but also helps businesses achieve and maintain license compliance, while at the same time improving IT management and tracking as well.

“Our flagship product is Centennial Discovery which gives 100 per cent visibility of a business’s software and assets,” Piwonka said. “With License Manager, you’re able to see where software is installed and you are able to immediately patch up any vulnerability by viewing what’s out there by limiting any software that may compromise your network.”

Centennial Software said the company places a great deal of focus on its channel community when it comes to bringing forth solutions to the marketplace. Piwonka credits this to be a result of the company’s strategy of being 100 per cent indirect.

“The channel plays a critical role to our success,” Piwonka said. “We’re undertaking different tactics to help educate the market on our solutions. We’re training our channel partners and are providing them with relevant sales tools, marketing collateral, on-site support and lead generation campaigns.”

As for Centennial Software’s Canadian presence, Piwonka said its customer base is in good shape and points to Softchoice, one of the top software providers in Canada as being its largest Canadian reseller.

“Canada’s an important market for us and we need to continue to aggressively recruit additional resellers that can add value to our solutions,” Piwonka said. “From a reseller perspective, we want to work with companies who provide value to their customer base. We want someone who will take the time to educate themselves and who can communicate value to customers.”

Centennial’s SAM.Suite is available on a per-seat basis for new customers and for current customers who already have Centennial Discovery, License Manager can be purchased at a discounted price up until the end of this year.

Piwonka says the company prides itself on it being the leader in the IT audit and inventory industry and promises potential partners a wealth of success if partnering up with them.

“We’re committed to continuing to drive innovation and delivering products and solutions that our partners may require,” Piwonka said. “License Manager is an excellent example of that. By working with us, you’ll have the most advanced technical solution and you’ll have a company that’s 100 per cent dedicated to ensuring the success of the channel.”

With its U.S. headquarters located in Portland, Ore. and additional offices in Germany and Australia, Centennial has to date, sold more than five million licenses worldwide, according to the company.
