Polaroid celebrates 75 years at CES

Polaroid will be lighting a lot of candles at CES in Las Vegas this year.

That’s because the company decided to celebrate its 75th year in business at the show. The Polaroid booth will feature milestones in the company’s history along with how the brand changed over the years and some new products.

Scott W. Hardy, president and CEO of Polaroid, said the Polaroid philosophy for the past 75 years has been about easily sharing life’s most important moments. At the CES booth, show attendees will have the opportunity to experience Polaroid’s history first-hand. The booth will showcase everything from art installations that chronicle Polaroid’s past, to new products for sharing new memories.

The new products will be mostly digital still cameras and camcorders including the Polaroid iM1836, an Android powered interchangeable lens camera. Polaroid will also showcase the Kids Tablet. Polaroid will also bring back some type of instant camera, but one that is ready for the digital age, the company said.

Show guests will be treated to a Fotobar, a brand new service that allows users to turn their favorite photos currently trapped in their phones, into museum quality art to display in their homes or offices. After the show, participants will receive a complimentary poster of their image shipped directly to their home. Polaroid Fotobar will also be previewing its new experiential Polaroid Fotobar stores that will open in select cities in 2013. Polaroid Fotobar stores will be the first of their kind retail destinations designed to capitalize on the meteoric rise in people taking pictures. These cool, hip, experiential stores will make the process of turning peoples’ best pictures into cherished pieces of art both rewarding and fun, the company said.

Demonstrations of the Polaroid Fotobar service will also be provided daily by Warren Struhl, founder and CEO of Fotobar, LLC.

Polaroid will also feature a living exhibition display in the booth highlighting the continuity of innovation throughout the brand’s history. On display will be classic Polaroid products and images such as the Land Camera along with the latest Polaroid such as the Polaroid Z2300 instant digital camera and the iM1836.
