Samsung Galaxy S IV expected to launch Thursday

Samsung Electronics is expected to launch its long-awaited Galaxy S IV handset at a launch event Thursday evening in New York City, and CDN will be at Radio City Music Hall covering the launch event live.

The launch will be the latest entry in what promises to be a competitive year in the smartphone wars. Canada’s own BlackBerry launched its Z10 smartphone in New York City at the end of January, and the keyboard version, the Q10, is expected next month. The HTC One and Sony Xperia Z are also new players in the market, and Apple will have to have a new iPhone one of these days as well, one would think.

According to a report by Mikael Ricknäs, analysts say the Galaxy S IV will set the standard that Samsung’s smartphone competitors, particularly those in the Android arena, will need to meet or beat.
