SUNNYVALE, Calif. — SonicWALL has extended its line of TotalSecure solutions with the launch of its TZ 180, TZ 180 Wireless appliances. The TZ 190 Wireless, with enhanced capabilities, will debut in the middle of the year.
These new platforms offer higher unified threat management (UTM) performance than previous models, the company said, enhanced ease of use, comprehensive security management and reporting capabilities and secure WPA2 (802.11i) wireless support.
TotalSecure is an all-in-one security solution combining hardware, security services, reporting and support, designed to make comprehensive UTM protection easy to buy, install and manage for small and mid-sized business networks.
The TZ 180 appliances become the platform for SonicWALL’s TotalSecure 10 and TotalSecure 25 offerings for small networks. The new TZ 190 Wireless joins the recently-introduced TZ 190 as the hardware appliances for the TotalSecure 3G Series, which enables secure Internet access over 3G broadband WAN and allows businesses to work with or without fixed Internet connections.
The TZ 180 delivers gateway UTM scanning at twice the speed of the company’s TZ 170 products. A new Security Dashboard provides a real-time snapshot of the number and type of security threats blocked by SonicWALL’s threat prevention technology worldwide, as well as the threats blocked by the user’s appliance.
The TZ 180 Wireless offers high performance wireless LAN capabilities with WPA2 (802.11i) support and maximum range and sensitivity. The TZ 180 appliances ship standard with SonicOS 3.8, which offers a new registration and licensing wizard as well as a new setup wizard that makes installation even faster and simpler for IT administrators. With an upgrade to SonicOS enhanced, the appliances use SonicWALL’s PortShield technology to provide an easy way for users to configure and manage each of the five ports on the device as custom security zones within the network. The TZ 180 and TZ 180 Wireless are available immediately.
The TZ 190 Wireless further extends the capabilities of the TZ 190 as the platform for the TotalSecure 3G Series, adding 802.11i wireless LAN connectivity in addition to 3G wireless WAN connectivity. The unrestricted node TZ 190 platform enables users to create a secure 3G wireless broadband network with or without a fixed Internet connection, providing high- performance UTM firewall capabilities together with support for worldwide GSM- and CDMA-based 3G networks.
