Start-up offers a new way to make money on Office 365

Washington – It’s no secret that the channel is struggling trying to make a buck with Office 365. According to BitTitan, many solution providers lose margins because of the complexity of migrating an organization to Office 365.

BitTitan was one of the surprises at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference for channel partners. Started by Geeman Yip, a former Microsoft programmer and developer of Hosted Exchange and Office 365. BitTitan calls itself an IT change automation vendor.

What is IT change automation? BitTitan solutions provides a fully automated process for deploying Office 365. The price for this service is $11.99 per mail box. All a solution provider has to do is set the source and destination and its done, said Jessica Raymond, the director of marketing for BitTitan, based in Kirkland, Wash.

BitTitan has measured its automation process for Office 365 called MigrationWiz and found that it decreasing the time investment for a solution provider by 71 per cent, while increasing margins by 177 per cent in a 50-person migration scenario.

“We are a different kind of start-up. We care about the reseller channel and look to empower them to make more money with the cloud. How can we make them more profitable? It’s more than just words. We have a plan,” Raymond said

And, that plan comes in the form of a new partner program, which the company introduced at the show. Called the BitTitan Partner Program, it features a tier structure, product discounts, certifications and workshops aimed at not just training channel partners on MigrationWiz but also teaching them on pinpointing cloud opportunities in the marketplace.

“We are teaching folks how to sell the Microsoft stack. It starts with a 10 person company. When I sell I grow with the customer and make more money. It’s all automated and you no longer need a manual process. Partners can stay in one place and lower their costs. Prices go down and margins go up,” she said.

The company has hired a Canadian specific executive to handle the market in this country. Besides MigationWiz, the company also has products called UserActivation, DeploymentPro and DataEncryption.

Margins on MigrationWiz start at five per cent and go up. Redmond said BitTitan is looking to partner with 250 more solution providers.
