Symantec reboots information management brand under Veritas

Symantec Corp. unveiled today “Veritas Technologies Corporation” as the name for its information management company along with the company logo.

The announcement comes after its decision in October last year to split into two entities.

While the former will continue to focus on cyber security, Veritas will take over the information management business once the split is finalized and the new company becomes publicly traded.

Until then, Symantec will not be launching a brand campaign, and will instead slowly introduce brand assets, executives said in an official statement.

“While the new name acknowledges the heritage of these solutions, the new logo signals a transformed company ready to help organizations better utilize their information,” said Michael Brown, president and chief executive officer of Symantec in a blog post. “Given my career history in the storage business, I am particularly enthused about the re-birth of the Veritas name.”

CDN reached out to Symantec Canada officials for more details on what this announcement will mean to channel partners in Canada and will update the story as more details emerge.
