Synnex puts all its promos in one basket

SAN DIEGO, CALIF. – Synnex launched PromoCentral version 2.0 at its VARnex Fall Conference. The new PromoCentral will have a unified platform for all promotions, spiffs, rebates and channel programs.

Bob Stegner, the vice president of marketing for Synnex, told CDN that PromoCentral version 2.0 focuses on education and information that engages vendors and the channel. “This will give all the incentives for the channel to sell the vendor’s products. All of it on demand and available at anytime and anywhere,” he said.

  • The new PromoCentral has more than 500 promotions from manufacturers.
  • Approximately $110 million in rebates from Synnex.
  • And, more than $70 million of manufacturer rebates.

Stegner added that vendors will get to post all of their promos at no charge.

The search engine will enable solution providers to track down promos by vendor name, product name, part number or keyword searches such as “printers.”

Solution providers may also save promos as favourties.

“PromoCentral is one place for all your promos. You can pull out your phone and go and see them all. In the past, distributors were doing promos on spreadsheets and this is all electronic. It was built by Synnex’ mobile apps team,” Stegner said.

PromoCentral was rolled out in 2013 and currently has 550 resellers registered for it.

“This is not a marketing program to make money, but a program that will help (solution providers) make more money and be more successful,” Stegner said.

VARnex update

For the 300 North American-based VARnex members, they will get a VARnex deals Web page on the site. Members will also get a monthly insider magazine, an opportunity to attend VARnex University, a Sales 101 guide for best practices for building reoccurring revenue streams, leadership guides, DemandSolv, custom content for case studies, and mobile messaging.

Stegner added that the company wants to enhance its services opportunities in VARnex for 2014.

“I would like to see a crisper ability to do services among the membership and Synnex. We need to get that intertwined,” he said.

VARnex is now in the Japanese marketplace. Stegner said that Synnex is now the fourth largest distributor in Japan and it made sense to create a VARnex in that region.

“We want to differentiate ourselves. Some Japanese partners attended the VARnex Fall Conference, held here, to see how things work in the U.S. and with the Canadians. VARnex Japan is moving along faster than I originally anticipated,” Stegner said.
