Long time NEC Display Solutions of America, Inc. executive T.J. Trojan announced his retirement as President and COO after a 24 year run at the company.
Trojan will be leaving the Itasca, Ill.-based subsidiary this November.
Replacing Trojan is Nobuya Sakagami, a senior vice president and current member of the board at NEC Display Solutions.
Trojan, who was not available at press time, said in a prepared statement that he had a desire to pursue outside person interests as the main reason for leaving his post at NEC.Trojan also said that he will sincerely miss NEC and all of the people and partners who contributed to the mutual success. He is delighted that the company in a strong position for growth and in the very capable hands with Sakagami, the executive management team, and the entire organization.
He has been running the organization for just over four years and during that time shifted the company’s focus from volume and price player to a solutions-first display company. This move enabled NEC to gain share in the enterprise space and in digital signage.
Also during his time, Trojan lead NEC through the partnership with Mitsubishi and then a few year’s later the separation of Mitsubishi. He also was successful in merging the Visual Systems Division of NEC and NEC Display Solutions.
Tim Dreyer, spokesperson for NEC Display Solutions said that the departure of Trojan will not change the strategic direction of the company in any way.
“We will sincerely miss T.J.’s leadership, commitment, and contributions to NEC, and wish him the very best for the future,” Sakagami said. “His recent effort to merge all of our visual product divisions and companies under NEC Display Solutions was especially outstanding, as all three product divisions are performing above our expectations.”
Prior to the company’s inception in July of 2000, Trojan held various positions with NEC Technologies, Inc. including vice president of North American sales.
He entered the computing industry in 1983 after attending the University of Colorado. After a stint in computer distribution and computer retailing, he joined NEC Information Systems in 1987 which later became NEC Technologies, Inc.
