Tech Data Canada wins Cisco UCS C-Series certification

Distributor Tech Data Canada was first off the mark North of the border, announcing last month that it has achieved high level certification for build-to-order and configure-to-order Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) C-Series rack servers.

The certification builds on Tech Data Canada’s long-established relationship with the networking giant, which already included system engineering support, forecasting and stocking capabilities and customizable enablement programs.

“This level of authorization will enable us to significantly reduce the prerequisite lead time and increase our reseller partners’ competitive advantage to win deals,” said Greg Myers, vice-president, marketing at Tech Data Canada, in a statement.

While a typical C-Series configuration would take 21 days, Tech Data said it can reduce that turnaround to 72 hours or less, offering a significant market advantage to its reseller partners. The distributor added resellers can also benefit from Tech Data’s reduced lead time, data centre certification and authorization enablement, as well as enhanced system engineering support.

“Partners can now take advantage of Tech Data’s ISO 9001:2008 integration centre to provide fully configured Cisco rack mount server technology.  Partners can choose to have a complete solution delivered to them or to their customer, at a fraction of the cost and in 85% less time”, said Todd Madgett, director, of distribution sales for Cisco Canada, in a statement.

With the Cisco UCS C-Series Authorized Configurator certification and its other Cisco authorizations and facilities, Tech Data can now add additional components to pre-configured C-Series bundles or build C-Series servers up from the bare chassis. Tech Data earned the BTO and CTO certification after successfully completing a series of Cisco UCS C-Series training, testing and dual audit processes.

“We’re now able to offer the complete Cisco solution to meet the end-customers’ unique requirements. This provides more choice for resellers in how they deliver unified data centre solutions,” Myers said. “Tech Data’s configuration centre saves resellers the cost of having to manage their own integration services and the associated overhead. Tech Data’s track record of delivering results from small projects to multi-destination rollouts speaks for itself.”
