Gartner: Skip Vista and wait for Windows 7

David Meyer writes that according to Michael Silver and Stephen Kleynhans, two analysts from Gartner, users are better off waiting for Windows 7, instead of working with Vista.

“‘Preparing for Vista will require the same amount of effort as preparing for Windows 7 so, at this point, targeting Windows 7 would add less than six months to the schedule and would result in a plan that is more politically palatable, better for users, and results in greater longevity,’ the Gartner analysts wrote in (an) advisory, published on Wednesday.”

Yahoo Mobile Abandons Its Smartphone App To Focus On The iPhone

Erick Schonfeld writes that Yahoo has decided to cease the development of its mobile app for the BlackBerry, and instead, focus on its app for the iPhone.

“A Yahoo spokesperson confirms: ‘We are reprioritizing some products to help us better deliver the best possible experiences to consumers on mobile. To streamline our services, we will not develop Yahoo! Mobile for smartphones to focus our efforts on mobilizing Yahoo!, improving Yahoo! Mobile for web and Yahoo! Mobile for iPhone as well as developing new and engaging experiences for consumers, partners and advertisers. We currently have mobile products that reach hundreds of different devices (including Blackberry), and we continue to expand that comprehensive list.’”
