“We have to start realizing the quality of the people we have in these small IT centres and delivering the technology training and support resources they need to make them power houses…hose of us in the larger Canadian centres also need to give these smaller centres their due. These are the up and comers and the ones who will be challenging us next. Mark my words the next Google or Facebook is coming, and it will be from someplace none of us can pronounce right now.”
SmallWorlds brings a third dimension to Web 2.0

Jason Kincaid looks at a new upcoming browser, called SmallWorlds, which incorporates YouTube, Flickr and other various Web 2.0 services into it.
“The site is aimed at the teen market, and is designed to be more casual than Second Life. SmallWorlds will be entering a public beta on June 2…The site has a lot of potential. The virtual world looks impressive, featuring a 3D isometric perspective and highly customizable avatars.”
Nokia says no plan to switch phones to Linux

Bill Ray further explores a rumour regarding whether or not Nokia will embrace Linux as a platform for its mobile devices.
“Despite reports to the contrary, Nokia is not embracing Linux as a platform for its mobile phones. The Finnish giant insists that comments reported by Reuters and others were quoted out of context and that nothing has changed. Speculation started when comments from Rick Simonson, Nokia’s Financial Director, that the mobile phone giant was ‘well on the way’ towards using Linux on mobile phones, and prompted speculation about a tie-up with Google’s Android platform.”
