The UPS makes an Evolution

MGE Office Protection Systems, a single-phase UPS vendor from France, will introduce its Evolution UPS product line to the IT channel.

Brad Amano, business development manager at MGE, says UPS systems are MGE’s core products, accounting for almost 90 per cent of the company’s overall business. The newest additions to the UPS system product line are the Evolution and Evolution S UPS systems, power protection devices that target network devices, rack-mounted servers and network storage systems. Amano says the new Evolution line is ideal for markets ranging from small to mid-size enterprises. To help distribute its new products, Amano says MGE has also recently partnered up with Tech Data Canada to further broaden its reach within the country.

“We’re working with the IT channel and our resellers,” Amano said. “We’re also focusing on our IT distributors like Bell Micro and most recently, Tech Data to really push these products.”

The Evolution and Evolution S UPS products are available in a variety of different models and all offer high-density protection for network devices. The products are plug and play and are also capable of protecting anywhere from one to 15 servers. Amano says MGE partners will take a liking to the Evolution line because he promises they are an ideal product for the IT channel.

“This is a huge opportunity for our channel in Canada,” Amano says “Partners should expect to see around 20 per cent [margins] or more. The channel community plays a huge role in our strategy and our focus is to work with the channel. We’re focusing all of our efforts on sales and marketing for our partners to help them be more successful.”

What’s also interesting to note is that MGE has almost doubled the number of SKUS in the product line. To date, Amano says MGE currently has around 18 to 20 SKUs now for the Evolution and Evolution S line of UPS systems.

“Our UPS systems are line-interactive products that offer power conditioning and protection while protecting all of the connected equipment,” he says. “This works to extend the life of this connected equipment and this ultimately lowers the total cost of ownership for the customer.”

What’s great about the new Evolution, Amano says, is that it also comes with all of the standard UPS features such as having remote capabilities for monitoring and management, as well as remote supervision, so users can reboot servers to also extend battery power by shutting down things such as printers and other devices that also consume power.

Amano says Evolution has unmatched flexibility with its FlexPDU and HotSwap MBP features, that allow users to connect either through sockets or terminal blocks. This also makes it a great space-saving device since users can also plug in from behind, on the side, or on top of the actual unit itself.

“This new product is exciting for us because we’re getting reintroduced to some resellers and we’re also partnering up with new ones,” Amano said. “We’re creating all of the tools and support that partners need and we also have a dedicated VAR Web site available for them to use. We’re open to and are really looking forward to expanding our channel,” he adds.
