“The Adamo reminds me those diamond-encrusted cell phones that are flashed (pun intended) by the wealthy but insecure who need constant attention. Sure, someone will whip out their Adamo in the Big Meeting, followed by a full 10 seconds of ohs and ahs, and then its owner can confidently and even stylishly explain why this quarter’s sales are in the dumper. Sorry, even a piece of art running Vista can’t solve that on its own.”

Oracle grows despite recession

Chris Mellor writes that even though Oracle saw its third 2009 quarter grow by two per cent to $5.5 billion, the company’s CEO, Larry Ellison, was still not happy.

“‘But for the strengthening of the US dollar leading to unfavourable currency exchange rates,’ (Ellison) grumbled, ‘our non-GAAP earnings per share would have increased 29 per cent [instead of 16 per cent] in Q3… (despite) the serious slowdown in the world economy.’”

Is this newest Apple netbook rumour just more wishful thinking?

“As jkOnTheRun is reporting, DigiTimes is reporting that Wintek claims to have a contract for a touch-screen Apple netbook. The Apple netbook rumours have been around for some time and in most cases I think it is people dreaming about such a device rather than a story with actual evidence. This one may turn out to be the same wishful thinking too. ”
