Userful announces public computing solutions for the military

Calgary-based Userful has made available a managed desktop solution called the DiscoverStation, designed specifically for the military.

Potential uses include Internet cafes, computer based training, and mobile computer labs.

Tim Griffin, CEO of Userful said the military have amongst the most aggressive security requirements, yet often have to struggle with adapting systems not designed for them. This is not the kind of environment where you want to be deploying a personal computer.

The DiscoverStation is built from the ground up to be a public computer and coupled with Userful’s configuration tools.

 DiscoverStation is an integrated desktop computing management solution, consisting of a fully managed desktop combined with service and support for software and hardware.

Griffin claims that TCO savings will be 50 per cent or more are achieved through the inclusion of Userful’s Desktop Multiplier technology, which allows a single PC to provide multiple independent workstations for users.
