VMware Inc. is doing away with its old partner program and introducing one that gives partners new, and easier, opportunities to co-sell and co-invest with the Dell Technologies subsidiary.
The VMware Partner Connect program was unveiled at the VMware Partner Connect event in California this week, and according to the company’s vice-president of worldwide channel, Jenni Flinders, the program’s focus is on simplicity, innovation and choice, but won’t be available until early 2020.
“We have listened to feedback from our partners, and VMware Partner Connect will be our singular partner program for any business model,” she said in a press release.
Flinders also made an appearance on VMware’s partner YouTube channel, where she said their partner programs have been consolidated into a single experience.
Services-led partners that are well-versed across VMware’s lineup of products will be able to claim the title of Principal Partner.
“Being a Principal Partner identifies you as a go-to partner for VMware as we drive joint business planning and develop co-selling opportunities with you,” explained Flinders.
VMware says it expects all partners in the new program to demonstrate basic capabilities through the achievement of VMware Solution Competencies, which focus on developing partners’ selling skills, architecture proficiency and deployment expertise.
