Westcon partners with ArcSight

Westcon Group Inc. has announced a new North American distribution partnership with ArcSight, an HP company, which will bring new products and solutions to the specialty distributor’s reseller community.

The distribution agreement is new for Westcon in North America and is an expanded distribution agreement for the distributor’s European operations.

Lynn Smurthwaite-Murphy, senior vice-president for Westcon Group, U.S. and Canada, said the addition of ArcSight into North America is a significant piece of news for the distribution channel.

“ArcSight hasn’t leveraged distribution in North America before,” Smurthwaite-Murphy said. “At Westcon, we’re continuing to build-out our security portfolio by bringing the best-in-class to the channel. Our reseller partners are the trusted advisors to their customer base and they need to make sure they’re delivering the ability to protect their corporate aspects and making sure they stay compliant. ArcSight solutions are more tools for partners to add to their kit bags.”

With the addition of ArcSight’s Enterprise Threat and Risk Management (ETRM) platform into Westcon distribution, Smurthwaite-Murphy said partners can deliver more value to their SMB customers, all the way up to large enterprises.

ArcSight’s ETRM platform is an integrated product suite that enables users to collect, analyze and assess security and risk information. By providing visibility across an organization’s entire IT infrastructure, businesses can be better protected against external and internal threats.

Channel partners can also deliver ArcSight’s Logger 5.0 solution to their customers, which is a log management solution, Smurthwaite-Murphy said.

To help support its reseller community, Smurthwaite-Murphy said ArcSight is being folded into some of Westcon’s programs such as SecurityPoint, where partners can access non-biased information, podcasts, training resources and Webinars.

Smurthwaite-Murphy said the new partnership with ArcSight shows Westcon’s commitment to becoming the “number one security distributor” in the industry. In September, Westcon announced a distribution partnership with Palo Alto Networks, which specializes in network security solutions.
